Acorus Calamus

 Acorus Calamus ???? No idea. Its a plant commonly known as Calamus or Sweet Flag. Its mainly found in India It is found growing wild throughout India and also found in himalayas.It has a great medicinal value.

It is a semi aquatic perennial plant with prominent leaf veins. The pant have scented leaves and more strongly scented rhizomes.It also has creeping rhizomes.Parts of the plant have been used medicinally and its scent has been used to make fragrances.The rhizomes,roots,oils are used to make a oil called calamus oil.
Its commonly known to everyone about its medicainal values.Its used to prepare oils and medicines for some diseases.Even naturally it is used as remedy for many diseases. Some of its use are pain relief oil,for epilepsy, hysteria, insanity, laryngitis, loss of appetite and nasal congestion,sinus headaches and so on.
 Other than its medicinal uses, its dried rhizomes can be used in home. The below is the image which I have it in my home.


Its one of the unknown use is it can be used in our wardrobe cupboards. We may use some artificial scented balls in the cupboard racks for fragrance and also to keep free from insects. But we have one natural remedy for it, calamus dried rhizomes. Just place this in the each rack of your wardrobe cupboard. By using it you can get rid of insects, even avoids bad smells which you get for not using your cloths or openigng your cupboard for a long time. I am using it for a year.This is a good remedy for those who have allergy to fragrant balls.  Just replace a artificial and enjoy & cherish nature.. Pride!!!
