Happy KarthiKai Deepam

Hellooooo...Today is karthikai deepam festival which we celebrate by lighting lamps Agal vilakkus (oil lit lamps) all over the home and streets. On this day all our surroundings will be glowing in the light. Karthiaki Deepam is one of the traditional festival of  South India, Karthikai is a festival of light.

Karthigai Deepam  is a grant ceremony celebrated at Arunachaleswarar temple in Tiruvanmalai  For lord Shiva. In the Evening at the Temple Maha Deepam is lighten in the hill which is very large and it continuously light the fire for three days. After the Maha Deepam is lighten up, we used to place the lamp all over the home, brust crackers and draw a huge kolam  in front of the home and place the lighten lamp as shown below the image.
 

 The flame of the lamp symbolises, spiritual knowledge, which empties the oil, as it also burns the wick, the ego(body, mind complex).It spreads all over ushering in prosperity and joy.Let it spread all the over the world and bless us with peace..:)
